A Historic Move to Promote Indigenous Coffee

In a significant initiative to support tribal communities and indigenous products, the Indian Parliament has introduced Araku Coffee to its premises. The launch, facilitated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, marks a milestone in promoting the organic coffee cultivated in the Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh.

Parliament Welcomes Araku Coffee Stalls

The Lok Sabha Secretariat granted permission for setting up Araku Coffee stalls near the Sangam 1 and 2 courtyard areas. These stalls will be operational from March 24 to 28, allowing Members of Parliament and visitors to enjoy the rich flavor of Araku Coffee.

Government's Commitment to Tribal Welfare

Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani expressed her enthusiasm for this initiative. She highlighted how such projects provide stable markets for tribal produce, ensuring economic benefits for tribal farmers.

Inauguration Ceremony with Key Dignitaries

The launch event saw participation from several dignitaries, including:

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

  • Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu

  • Other central ministers

Their presence reflected the government’s dedication to promoting indigenous products on a national platform.

Araku Coffee Gains Recognition at State Level

This initiative follows a similar effort in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council. On March 18, 2025, Araku Coffee stalls were inaugurated in the state assembly premises, reinforcing the state's commitment to supporting tribal farmers.

A Step Towards National and Global Recognition

The introduction of Araku Coffee in Parliament not only offers a delightful experience to coffee lovers but also serves as a testament to India’s rich diversity. This move is expected to bring greater recognition to indigenous products, both nationally and internationally.
